Caroline Romano delivered a lively performance last Friday at the Observatory in Santa Ana, California.  Performing  her new same-day single, “Doesn't Matter.”

She has been on her first tour with Smallpools and Grayscale throughout the West Coast and while Caroline was first nervous about going on tour, she had nothing short of fun and learning new experiences from her colleagues.

From small-town Mississippi to big-city Nashville, Caroline is rising in the Alternative Pop genre with over 3 million plays on her song with, artist, R3HAB, “I Still Remember.”

Music is something that makes Caroline feel most like herself. From writing in her diary since she was 12, turning those pages into a melody, to going on tour.

On her 13 birthday, Caroline visited Nashville for the first time and realized music is what she's been called to do.

“That was definitely one of the only moments in my life that I can…I can distinctly remember, this is what I’m supposed to be doing.”

From then on, Caroline was homeschooled to make time for her music practices.

When she was 17, she moved to Nashville to further her career.

Some of Caroline's biggest influences for her music are top artists like Taylor Swift, 21 Pilots, Lorde, and Noah Kahan.

“I want to provide the same thing that some of my favorite artist songs have provided for me, which is both like a sense of understanding but also escapism,” Romano said.

One of her favorite music videos she shot was for her album “Dizzy,” directed by Justin Key. When Key came to Caroline about a music video with tinfoil, she trusted his vision and ended up loving the outcome of the video.

Caroline speaks of the struggles of competition in the music industry and social media.

“Putting out media and having to advertise it that way, makes it a little bit harder at times. - And I think a lot of artists feel the same way, it kind of takes away that thing that provides that sense of relief and escape for them,” Caroline said.

She says she has seen extremely talented individuals in the music industry rejected because of their lack of followers on social media. She hopes for that to change.

Although she believes social media is a great way to be discovered, she doesn't think it should be the only method of artist discovery.

Carolina considers herself a “loud introvert.” She's expressed that she naturally can be anxious, but music helps her release those tensions and express herself through her writing.

When feeling anxious or down, she surrounds herself with her friends, or activities that boost her mood. She feels blessed for the support of her parents and friends in her career and personal life as she hopes to release two or three more albums and tour in the next five years.

After the tour, Caroline will return to Nashville to focus on writing new music and being more present in her personal life.
